Sainik School Admission: Exam, Syllabus, FAQs & More

Sainik Schools are government-run English-medium residential schools that prepare students for a career in the armed forces. These schools follow the CBSE curriculum and also focus on military training, discipline, and leadership from an early age.

Class 6: Boys and girls aged 10–12 years
Class 9: Boys aged 13–15 years
The student should have passed Class 5 (for Class 6 entry) or Class 8 (for Class 9 entry) from a recognized school.

The All India Sainik School Entrance Exam (AISSEE) is usually conducted in January. Application starts around October or November. Admit cards are released in December.

Shortlisted students are called for a medical examination. The final selection is based on written marks + medical fitness + reservation criteria.

As of now, Class 6 admissions are open for girls in many Sainik Schools across India. For Class 9, most schools admit only boys. Always check with the specific school website.
